Dear Parents and Friends,
Milwaukee Montessori School prides itself on educating creative problem solvers who will be the decision makers of tomorrow. We know that working on environmental challenges requires our students to have the knowledge, skills, and habits of mind that will ultimately allow them to make an intentional, positive impact in the world, not just empty promises toward lofty goals.
The Annual Fund this year has been dedicated to Greening our School through Water Conservation. We will start by installing water-conserving appliances throughout the school to replace the outdated, inefficient devices. Toilets currently consume the majority of water used in our building, so our first priority is to install high-efficiency toilets, new sinks, faucets, and water fountains that all use half the water we currently use without compromising effectiveness.
This year’s Annual Fund will also allow us to develop an environmental science curriculum and fund our teachers to attend the NAIS Summer Institute of Leadership in Sustainability. Already, many independent schools are leading the way in developing environmental curricula and implementing energy-saving devices, sustainable food programs, water conservation, green cleaning and landscaping, and producing seminars on purchasing that serve as a paradigm for other schools and institutions.
Milwaukee Montessori School has worked toward environmental stewardship for years, and we know that the most important way we teach students to be less wasteful is to practice it in our own operations, making observable decisions wherever we can. This year's Annual Fund will help us to build a culture of long-term conservation, stewardship, and sustainability. We hope you will join us in making a donation to this year's Annual Fund.
