Robotics Club & Team

Milwaukee Montessori School Robotics Club and Team students exhibit an increased capability of problem-solving development, through the integration of robots in the solution.

Robotics Club

Robotics Club members learn and experiment with gears, drive trains, and simple motorized machines.  They also work with the LEGO NXT robot learning to design, construct, and program the robot to complete missions.

Students work in groups of two creating a great teamwork building opportunity enriched with Science and Math.

Robotics Team

The Robotics Team, Elemental Robots, competes in the FIRST LEGO League Competition and is composed of students chosen from the Spring 2011 Robotics Club.

Elemental Robots will be participating in the 2011 FIRST LEGO League-Food Factor, regional competition at Mukwonago High School, on Sunday, November 20, 2011, from 8am-5pm.

Judging meetings are from 9am-11am and the intense robot rounds are from 1pm-4pm.

The team has been working toward this day since the first week in September. The students have created their innovation they call the Germassassin. The young team of 10-13 yr olds took the food decontamination technologies including uv-c lights, bacteriophages, and ozone used in food plants, and combined them into an "iron" shaped device that the consumer can use daily.

Team Achievements

The MMS Robotics Team lead by Mrs. Jaime Cieszynski, has had great success over the last few years. The team has demonstrated dedication and perseverance while formulating an in-depth understanding of real world problems.

• 2009- 1st Place Quality Research Award ~ State FLL Osseo, WI Championship
• 2010- FIRST LEGO League Marquette Regional- First Place Project Award, Robot Design Nomination, and Team nomination to 2011 World Festival
• 2010- FIRST LEGO League- State Oak Creek Competition, 1st Place Research Quality Award

NXT LEGO

The First Lego League uses NXT LEGO computer programmed robots to creatively integrate Science, Math, Technology, and Engineering. Students provide solutions for the assigned puzzles judged for project presentation, research, robot design, and robot programming. Students involved within the Robotics team and club have exhibited an increased capability of problem-solving development. The Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary and Junior High Robotics Clubs begin with a series of activities to prepare them for the complexity of the LEGO NXT robot.
