This fall marks our fourth year of Flag Football for Lower Elementary students. Our coaches will include Roger Gonzalez, a current MMS athletic coach, and Travis Mather, a personal trainer and former college football player with certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
We are expanding our flag football club to five weeks! In this club, we will focus on learning the rules of the game, and our practices will include teamwork training, warm-up stretches, agility exercises and running. We have also changed the practice days to Tuesdays, so there is no interference with Camp Minikani.
Clothing: Cleats or running shoes are crucial. We suggest that students wear warm up pants or sweat pants, both long and short sleeved t-shirts for layering, as well as sweatshirts, or heavy fleece jackets. Hats and gloves will be necessary as the weather grows cooler.
Practices: Tuesdays from 3:30-5:00pm on the following dates: October 18th, October 25th, November 1st, November 8th, and ending on Tuesday, November 15th (practice ends at 5pm this year due to the darkness).
Athletic Fee: Participation in the club requires an athletic fee of $35 per student. If your child is already contracted for full-year/full-week after-school childcare, no fee is required.
Drop-off and Pick-up: Coaches will pick children up, along with their belongings, directly from their classrooms and walk them to the backyard patio where attendance will be taken. If necessary, students will then change and meet again in the backyard. Pick-up will take place on the front porch from 5:00-5:15pm, where they will need to be signed out. Students not picked up by 5:15pm will go to Nighthawks / Jayhawks, all applicable late fees will apply.
