Volleyball

Winter Volleyball Clinic:

Our Winter Volleyball Clinic starts Tuesday, November 29th and is offered to all girls and boys in 4th-8th grade interested in improving their volleyball skills.

2011 Volleyball Team:

Our volleyball season runs August through October of each school year and is open to students in Upper School and Junior High. Our staff work hard to teach students basic volleyball skills and improve on those skills as they move on to new levels.

Fall Session

We are entering into our third year in the Metro Volleyball Conference, a league that is more competitive and provides an authentic volleyball experience. The season consists of five teams in 4th to 8th grade, and we invite all 4th- 8th grade students to join our teams.

Practice Information

8th Grade Girls’ Team

Practices will be on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3-5:00pm at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church Gym, 9400 W. Congress Street, starting Monday, August 29th.
A school bus will take students to practice, and parents must pick them up at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church between 5:05pm -5:15pm.
Games are scheduled on Saturdays between 8:00am – 4:00pm at various gyms.
The 8th Grade team will play in 3 tournaments that will be determined during the volleyball season.

6th-7th Grade Girls’ Team

Practices will be on Wednesdays and Fridays from 3-5:00pm at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church Gym, 9400 W. Congress Street, starting Wednesday, August 31st.
A school bus will take students to practice, and parents must pick them up at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church between 5:05pm – 5:15pm.
Games are scheduled on Saturdays between 8:00am and 4:00pm at various gyms.
The 6th-7th Grade team will play in 2-3 tournaments that will be determined during the volleyball season.

4th- 5th Grade Boys Team

Practices will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15pm-5:00pm in the St. Therese Gym starting Tuesday, August 30th.
Games will be on Friday nights between 5:00pm -8:00pm at various gyms.
The 4th-5th grade team will play in 1 tournament that will be determined during the volleyball season.

4th-5th Grade Girls Team “A” (returning team players)

Practices will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:15pm-5:00pm in the St. Therese Gym starting Monday, August 29th.
Games are scheduled on Saturdays between 8:00am - 4:00pm at various gyms.
The 4th-5th Grade team will play in 1 tournament that will be determined during the volleyball season.

4th-5th Grade Girls Team “B” (new team players)

Practices will take place on Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:15pm-5:00pm in the St. Therese Gym starting Wednesday, August 31st.
Games are scheduled on Saturdays between 8:00am – 4:00pm at various gyms.
The 4th-5th Grade team will play in 1 tournament that will be determined during the volleyball season.

Game times, locations, and dates will be posted on the League website www.metrovbconference.org, where you can also keep track of scores. Please note that some schools require a $2.00 spectator fee for adults.

Fees

The cost for the 10 weeks is $360 per student, including transportation. Registration, payment of athletic fees and signed MMS Sports Waiver are due by Friday, August 19, 2011. If your child is already contracted for full-week, full-year after-school childcare, your volleyball athletic fee will be waived.

Practice Sets/Uniforms

Students must wear athletic shorts, athletic t-shirts, volleyball socks, supportive athletic shoes, and kneepads to practice. During games, the league requires students to wear school volleyball jerseys with numbers both front and back. Jerseys cost $30/each and we have samples for sizing. We will place an order once we have team rosters. Students should wear black shorts and volleyball socks that may be purchased at any sporting goods store.
