MISSION: Milwaukee Montessori School provides a challenging, individualized educational experience founded in a Montessori curriculum with the objective of developing independent thinking students of knowledge, courage, personal integrity and compassion.

 
LOCATION: 4.80-acre urban/suburban campus. Students come from both urban and suburban communities within a 15-mile radius of Milwaukee.


ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Interviews and/or classroom visits for all students. Written academic assessment given to students age 5 and older.


ACADEMIC DIVISIONS: All classrooms are composed of students in two or three-year age groupings. First Steps and Stepping Stones: ages 18 months to 36 months; Children’s House: grades K3, K4, and K5; Lower Elementary: grades 1, 2, and 3; Upper Elementary: grades 4, 5, and 6; Junior High: grades 7 and 8.


GRADING SYSTEM: Written narratives and letter grades given twice a year in achievement, effort, and citizenship. Student grades: EE – Exceeds Expectations, ME - Meets Expectations, DS – Developing Skills, and SR – Support Required. Two parent conferences completed each academic year.


HOMEWORK: Daily oral reading for all students CH Full-Day and up.


STANDARDIZED TESTS: CTP4 issued to all students grades 3 through 8 in October.


CO-CURRICULAR: Spanish language; instrumental and vocal music; studio art, cyber art, and photography; athletic instruction; technology instruction.


SPECIAL STRENGTHS: Integration of technology in the classroom: students in grades 3 and up use Tablet PC technology for classroom assignments, as well as Macs.


SPECIAL PROGRAMS: After-school athletics including boys’ and girls’ basketball, volleyball, cross country, track and field, soccer, and flag football; private instrument lessons for all strings, African and Latin percussion, flute, and clarinet; chess club; photography club; and a robotics club and robotics team. Also offered are parent/toddler classes during the school day and Atrium (religious education) after school.


GRADUATES:
MMS graduates have attended the following secondary schools: Pius HS, Marquette University HS, Divine Savior Holy Angels HS, University School of Milwaukee, Brookfield Academy, American School in Switzerland, Milwaukee and Wauwatosa public high schools. 

  • 85%+ of MMS graduates qualify for advanced level courses in upon entering High School
  • 66% of MMS graduates from 2004 onward are honor roll students (GPA varies by school, typically 3.5 and higher)
