Milwaukee Montessori School offers one-on-one tutoring during or after-school from faculty trained in the Orton-Gillingham method, an explicit, simultaneous, sequential, multisensory, and systematic program proven highly effective in increasing academic productivity.
Classroom teachers refer students to the tutoring program if they need help with learning letter sounds, reading acquisition, reading comprehension, reading fluency, spelling, writing skills, and/or memorizing number facts and math operations.
MMS recommends (2) 45-minute lessons each week to see strong improvement. And, most students begin to see steady progress within 3-to 4-weeks after beginning tutoring. Usually, we see a positive change in attitude and self-confidence first, followed by a steady improvement in academic skills. Tutors and/or faculty members meet with parents after 10 tutoring sessions to provide updates about student progress.
The cost of tutoring is $35.00 per session. To discuss academic tutoring, or to learn more about our tutoring programs, email Margreet Fleege.
