Volunteer

If you would prefer to make a non-monetary gift, consider volunteering for special events that take place during the year. This is a great way to meet other MMS families as well as network with MMS staff. Here are some ways to get involved...

• Welcome Back Ice Cream Social: Kick off the school year by catching up with old friends and meeting new ones. Sign up for a one-hour shift to serve ice cream or assist with games for students and their families.

• Scarecrow Day: Get ready for Halloween by making a scarecrow in your likeness, you bring the clothes, we’ll supply the rest. Help families make scarecrows, serve apple cider and cookies, assist with pumpkin and scarecrow face painting, or practice your face painting skills.

• Spaghetti Dinner: Feast on delicious Bartolotta spaghetti while enjoying exclusive access to the Discovery World museum.
  • Planning Committee: Parent volunteers assist with procuring raffle items beginning in December.
  • Roamers: Roamers sign up for one hour shifts during Spaghetti Dinner to assist with selling raffle tickets.
  • Set-up: Volunteers sign up for a two hour shift to assist with setting up Discovery World by displaying auction and raffle items and finalizing table set-up.
  • Shutdown: Volunteers sign up for a one hour shift to assist with the closing of the shoebox raffle and silent auction.

• Annual Gala Committees: Spend a night out on the town with other parents in our school community. This adults-only event is a great opportunity to spend time with families outside of school and raise much appreciated revenue that will help us enhance academic and co-curricular programming throughout the school.
  • Sponsorship Committee: Join us for biweekly meetings beginning in late fall to solicit returning and new corporate sponsorship opportunities.
  • Auction Committee: Join us for biweekly meetings beginning in winter to procure returning and new auction items.
  • Classroom Captains: Spend two-three weeks in February and March contacting parents in your child’s classroom and encouraging them to join us for an entertaining night out.

• Family Olympics: Volunteers at this event will help keep score and provide guidance during athletic feats that pit student/parent teams against one another.

• Book Fair: There are a variety of different ways to assist with the Scholastic Book Fair ranging from setting up and tearing down the Book Fair, signing up for a one hour cashier shift, or serving as the Book Fair Committee chair and assisting with the planning process.

• Teacher Appreciation Luncheon: Assist other parents in preparing a day of appreciation for teachers. Baking, cooking, setting-up, cleaning-up and serving the luncheon to our faculty are all possible opportunities.

• End of the Year Picnic: Celebrate the end of the school year and the beginning of summer with this Parent Association event. Help serve icy treats or assist with the event set-up and clean-up before heading off to enjoy summer vacation.
