MMS alumna, Brittany Mays ’05, was recently named the winner of The Medical College of Wisconsin 2016 President’s Diversity and Inclusion Award.
John R. Raymond, Sr., MD, President and CEO, in partnership with MCW’s Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee, established the President’s Diversity and Inclusion Award to honor individuals who have helped enhance an environment of inclusivity and diversity at MCW. This year, fourth-year medical student Brittany Mays, was one of two recipients of this prestigious award.
According to the selection committee, “Brittany Mays was selected for the award because of her passion, energy, and drive to contribute to the work of our community while continuing to excel academically and honor her obligations to several student organizations.” She also stands out for her tireless ability to mobilize support among her fellow students and create positive change. Brittany has been deeply engaged in: the Student National Medical Association; mentorship at the Milwaukee Academy of Science, and through the Partnership for Urban Medical Education and Advancement program; and, volunteering at the Saturday Clinic for the Uninsured and at health fairs organized by the Walnut Way Conservation Corp.
