Frequently Asked Questions

About the Admission Process

Here are the questions we hear most often about the admissions process.

  • Can I drop by at any time for a school tour?

Due to the high interest in our program, tours are held in the mornings by appointment. We are happy to answer general questions on the phone or by email. You may also schedule a tour online.

  • Who should attend the school tour?

Both parents (if applicable & possible). The initial tour is for adults only; your child will have an opportunity to visit the classroom and the teacher at a later date.

  • Is there a waiting list?

Yes, normally, depending on the program.

  • How far in advance may I submit an application?

Parents are encouraged to apply as early as possible.

  • May I request a specific classroom/teacher?

Yes, you may request a specific teacher or classroom. Although we try to accommodate requests, we cannot guarantee placement.

  • What are the factors that determine my child’s placement?

Depending on the openings that are available, our goal is to balance the classrooms by age and gender of the children.

Disability Nondiscrimination Policy

Milwaukee Montessori School (“School”) does not discriminate against any individual including

applicants or members of their families, students or members of their families, and employees

or members of their families on the basis of disability. Applicants and students with disabilities

have an equal opportunity to participate in or benefit from all of the programs, services, and

activities provided by the School. A child will not be denied admission to or be dis-enrolled from

the School on the basis of a disability or perceived disability. The Director of Admissions will

inform the Head of School of any decision to deny admission or disenroll a student so that the

Head of School may review these decisions to ensure compliance with the ADA.

The School will make reasonable modifications to its policies, practices, and procedures to afford

students with disabilities and their parents or guardians an equal opportunity to participate in or

benefit from the programs, services, or activities provided by the School unless such requested

modifications would fundamentally alter the nature of the School’s programs, goods, services, or

accommodations, or constitute a direct threat.

A request for reasonable modifications to the School’s policies, practices, or procedures may be

directed to any School employee or member of the School’s Board of Trustees either in writing

or verbally. Any request made to a School employee or member of the Board of Trustees will be

timely referred within one business day to the Dean of Students who is responsible for reviewing

and responding to requests for reasonable modifications.

Upon receiving a request for reasonable modifications, the Dean of Students will initiate a

discussion with the parent(s) or guardian(s) to determine whether the person or child for whom

they are seeking reasonable modifications is a qualified individual with a disability under the ADA

and what modification(s) may be appropriate pursuant to the ADA. The Dean of Students will

make an individualized determination based on the specific facts of each modification request

and will not apply a general prohibition against providing a particular type of modification.

The School will provide a response to a request for reasonable modifications in writing within

fourteen (14) days from the date the request is received. The School may: (1) grant a request for

reasonable modifications; (2) make a narrowly tailored request for medical documentation

relating to the person’s disability or any necessary modifications for the purpose of reaching a

determination; or (3) deny the request. If a request is denied, the School will document the

reason(s) for denying the request and submit the documentation to the Head of School. The Head

of School will maintain records relating to their review. The School will notify the parent(s) or

guardian(s), in writing, of the reason(s) for denying a request.
